To Prose. I'm knew to this blog. It took a while to decide on a username. I decided on "karma' because it represents the law of "cause and effect"

As a yellow dog Democrat, I too am angry, frustrated, worried, and have been since the 2000 election. Knowing there are others who feel the same way helps. A glass of wine helps too, but reading this blog, also has me worried, because, forgive me, it seems like there is a whole lota "complaining going on, and not enough "ideas or conversation" about what "we can do" about what is happening to OUR country.

As reflected in WRP's long and wonderful sentence, there are so many things that are "wrong" going on, it is hard to know where or how to begin, isn't it?

Maybe that's the problem. We feel overwhelmed. It's sort of deciding to clean the attic that we have been ignoring for the last 10 years, opening the attic door looking around and being tempted to put it off another year, because you just don't know where to begin.

There is no magic wand to just zap it and have it all cleaned out and organized "presto"...but there is power in "determination" and then taking the first step to begin on just one square foot at a time....or in the case of all the issues we are faced with, just pick one and begin thinking about solutions or actions that we can take to change it, together, and then start. The law of Cause and Effect can't happen if we don't give it a push.

I truely believe in what Howard Dean always says..."We have the power" this is our country, and I want it back. I know there are millions of us who have good ideas that we "think about" Maybe we should start sharing and offering them collectively. Even if ONE idea out of a thousand offered, is actually worth considering, it's worth inquiring about and talking about isn't it? This blog might be a good place to respectfully start.

I think so much of what we are all feeling is due to feeling overwhelmed and helpless, so we spend alot of time venting, and not enough time believing we can use our own brains and creatively to collectively change the direction our country is going. But we can.

Thank you for the feedback, Karma. Much appreciated. I agree, less venting and more ideas about how to take two steps forward instead of three steps backwards is preferred, but it sure felt good to put those words down onto the virtual paper. Once I did that, a lot of my angst vaporized. And, as a bonus, several kindred spirits got in touch with me via email to share their ideas about how to move beyond anger and rage.

What we need is Woody Guthrie and Joe Hill! Now, they knew how to ORGANIZE!

What's your first idea?

In my mind, the issue of TRUTH, or lack of it, is a big reason we have so many problems. For four years this administration has shown little respect for truth.
Nor has there been much in the way of "accountability"

This administration seems to opperate with the attitude that half the population of our country, Democrats, are simply irrelevant. Well, the last time I checked, Democrats are also "We the People"....millions of us, and as "We the People" we have the right, actually the "duty" as responsible "share holders" of our country, to question and expect answers concerning possible corruption, law breaking,or deceit, relating to our country, and the right to expect accountability.

From Enron and the "Energy Task Force" meetings, way back when,...Does anybody remember that?....to the bogus WMD Mushroom cloud reasons for invading Iraq.... to Valerie Plame...to lies about Medicare costs to Congress...to no-bid contracts to Haliburton who has managed to pilfer $9,000,000,000 of OUR Tax money....Abu Ghriab torture...on and on....the administration has refused to coroperate with, stalled investigations, covered up, did a "spin job" on the facts, or just simply ignored the issues. Our Democrat and even some Republican representitives in Washington, for some reason do not seem to be very effective in getting answers from this administration. Even court ordered demands for documents, are ignored. To me it feels like this administration choses to ignore "who they WORK FOR" or REPRESENT....isn't it "We the People"?
When CONGRESS asks for documents and information from the White House and the White House refuses them, the White House isn't just refusing Congress...the White House is refusing US. Congress represents US.

I don't get it. Maybe I just don't understand the legalities of our People/Government Relationship....some Lawyers willing to give us some input on these matters would be nice, but it seems to me that if 'We the People" collectivly demand answers and accountability from OUR government representitives....we ought to get it pronto. Has anyone else been thinking this? For all the POWER that "WE GIVE" OUR President, doesn't he still, in the end, HAVE to answer to us...We the People..if we "collectively" request it? (As long as it is not an endangering our  "National Security issue")

Knowing the answer to this question is the first step, in my mind, before we can address issues effectively.

Here is just one example.....Haliburton has "misused, misplaced, misrepresented, (polite words) around $9,000,000,000 of OUR TAX MONEY. Haliburton is still on the job, and still getting our TAX DOLLARS. WHY?
Would you run your business this way? If you had a business and you contracted out work, and the contractor couldn't account for huge amounts of YOUR money that you paid him for jobs, and overcharge you for work not done etc....would you "keep him on the job and give him more of your money"?! That is what we are doing with Haliburton. Why are "We the People" not collectively outraged and demanding Haliburton account for and return every penny of OUR 9,000,000,000 tax dollars.....and oh by the way..."You're Fired"?! Why are just kind of rolling our eyes and waiting for Washington politicians to do something, knowing that while we are struggling to work hard and pay our taxes, Haliburton is ripping us off and continueing to work FOR us and being paid MORE of OUR TAX MONEY?
This administration has asked for MORE money for Iraq, which will go in part to Haliburton I'm sure.
This makes me furious. Why aren't WE THE PEOPLE collectively, by the millions, outraged and seriously petitioning our government to ACT NOW on OUR behalf?
This is OUR $9,000,000,000 friends, not Washington's $9,000,000,000, that's BILLIONS with a capital B.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Do "I" just not understand "these things"?
