| My Password Doesn't work
The first thing to check it the case. Your password is case sensitive
and you need to make sure that you use UppEr and LoWER case exactly as
it appears in the confirmation email that you received.
Also verify that the digits and letters are correct. A one (1) can
look like an l (lower case L) for example.
If you copy and pasted the password from the registration confirmation
email, be sure that you did not include a space character at the
beginning or end of the password.
If that still fails, you can just enter your Username and press the
"Mail Password" button to reset your password to a new value that will
be emailed to the email address that you used to register for the
site.
How do I post?
Click on any of the stories that you'd like to comment on (read and discuss link). Read other's comments and add your own by clicking on the 'Post A Comment' link at the bottom of the thread. If you want to reply to a reader's comment, click on the 'Reply to This' link underneath the comment. You're welcome to post your own diary stories, though we ask you to post no more than one diary post per week. This does not apply to comments of course.
General Posting Guidelines
If you want to reference an article, don't repost the whole article. One paragraph with a link to the original source is sufficient.
To create a link:
truthout.org will create a link to truthout.org for example.
My Post Is Gone!
There are comment guidelines and if your post violates the guidelines, we will delete your post.
Here are the guidelines:
Posts containing profanity, personal attacks, threats of violence, or language deemed by the admins to be inflammatory will be deleted. Repeat offenders will be banned. This is fair warning.
Abuse Alert, What To Do
If you feel that a poster is abusing the town meeting, you can email us with the offending post URL. We will take a look and act if necessary. Be aware that just because you disagree with the comment is not a valid reason to ask for deletion or the suspension of the poster.
One more hint: Typing a post in ALL CAPS equals to "shouting in cyberspace" and is generally frowned upon :)
Why can't I comment on older posts?
The frequency of user diaries, stories and comments posted means the town meeting keeps growing, fast. In order to maintain a manageable size and have the town meeting posts load at an acceptable speed, older posts are archived. All posts are still available for reading, but commenting is closed on the archived threads.
